How to make Puffed Rice Upma Recipe | Murmura Upma

Ingredients to make Puffed Rice Upma:

Puffed Rice/Murmura – 4 cups
Onion – 1 chopped
Green Chilies – 3-4
Tomato – 2 medium size
Peanuts – 3-4 tablespoons
Turmeric Powder – ½ tablespoon
Mustard Seeds – ½ tablespoon
Cumin Seeds – ½ tablespoon
White Split Urad Dal – ½ tablespoon
Dry red chilies – 3-4 pieces
Asafoetida Hing – ¼ tablespoon
Salt as required
Coriander leaves – few
Curry leaves – few
Oil as required

Puffed Rice Upma Recipe | Murmura Upma preparation method:

1. Wash the puffed rice and squeeze water from them. Keep them aside.

2. Heat a pan with 2 tablespoons of oil. When oil heated, add peanuts. Fry them well. Now, add ¼ tablespoon asafetida hing and ½ tablespoon mustard seeds. When they start splitting, add ½ tablespoon cumin seeds and ½ tablespoon urad dal. Then, add few curry leaves, and broken red chilies. Stir it well.

3. Now, add chopped onion, green chilies, and tomato pieces. Stir it well until onions become soft.

4. Then, add required salt and ½ tablespoon turmeric powder. Now, add squeezed puffed rice and mix it well. Finally, add few coriander leaves and switch off the flame.

5. Now the delicious puffed rice upma recipe is ready to serve

6. Take it into a serving plate and garnish with few coriander leaves.

7. Serve it hot immediately.

Tips and tricks to make Puffed Rice Upma Recipe | Murmura Upma

1. You can avoid using tomato. Instead of use lemon juice to get a little sour taste to the recipe.

2. If you like you can also add green pieces, carrots etc.
